Pear Orchard

Pear trees are a nutritious, flavorful snack. MGM Family Orchard offers an impressive selection of pear trees, falling into two categories. European pears – what most people think of as a “classic” or “traditional” pear, are uniquely shaped fruits that taste best when harvested and allowed to ripen for a few days at room temperature. Asian pears are unique, Eastern-indigenous fruits that feature the juicy white flesh of a classic pear, but with the round shape and crisp, firm texture of an apple; this kind of pear is delicious right off the tree. Either variety produces fruit that is delicious when eaten as a snack, canned or spiced, or making desserts, salads, pear butters and more. See our chart on pear varietals
